The planes "jocky for position"-- as the wind shifts and changes direction, so do the planes -- quickly!  And, with more wind, the Red Baron goes higher as the French plane dives.

The planes are made of Balsa wood. They are sensitive to very light breeze and can withstand gale force winds. They can handle nearly all kinds of weather!

The propellers spin and whir as the planes bob and change direction with every shift in the wind. As long as there is even a little wind, there is always action!

The Red Baron Weather Vane Planes are actually sold as a mini-kit with construction templates and set-up instructions, so it's up to you get the wood, follow the directions, and enjoy this fun and rewarding craft project!

The Red Baron Weather Vane Planes Mini Kit consists of the following:
1. Full size templates of all the parts.
2. Propellers, bearing beads, and hat pins that hold them in place.
3. Decals for both planes (6 each).
4. Complete instructions.

The Red Baron Weather Vane Planes are real action, even with the slightest breeze!

The Red Baron is designed to fly up (lift) and the French plane is designed to fly down (dive).  Together, the planes rotate 360º and always fly into the wind. And they respond quickly to even slight shifts of the wind!

The planes are made of Balsa wood and are connected by a vane of Pine and/or Spruce pieces, which are shown below.

These pieces allow the French plane to actually bob and dive -- it is not held static to the vane.  And the Red Baron is not held static to the vane either.  Of course, both have limits as to how far they can independently move.

The planes and vane move up and down and 360° around, so they indicate relative wind speed and always fly into the wind.
